CLASSES 1 & 3 PROGRAMS
Commercial Driver with Folding Boom
12 weeks/ 244hrs: Air brakes, BC Class 1, TDG Training, Load Securement, Folding Boom “A” Lift Ticket, and Practicum

19 years of age or older before the start of classes and grade 12 or GED equivalence test.

BC CLASS 1 LICENSE
5 WEEKS, ACCOMODATING YOUR AVAILABILTY
142 hours: MANDATORY ENTRY-LEVEL TRAINING
You will need to study for the knowledge test.

Once you have the knowledge test we can register you for the melt program. 140 hours of training.

4 hour course ​This course is for class 5 Drivers wanting to haul an RV greater than 4600kg. (not equipped with air brakes) ​Must supply your own truck and RV weighing more than 4,600 kg for practice and test. ​Study the towing a recreational vehicle guide from the government agent. DEFENSE DRIVING SCHOOL
Improvement Institute Ltd, a member of Northern BC Truckers Association and Chamber of Commerce has been teaching drivers since 2015. Our staff credentials and experience included a provincial instructor diploma and combined over 45 years of instructing. We are fully certified by ICBC for all classes of licence, except motorcycle, including BC Class 1 MELT, air brakes and assessment officer. ICBC has contracted Improvement Institute Ltd to facilitate training throughout the province. Our client list includes small business plus large corporations such as BC Hydro, Peace River Hydro Partners, Spectra energy / North River, and others.
Course Description (3 hours)
This classroom and on road driving course creates an atmosphere for learning that is memorable, using the latest learning techniques. Participants will be engaged in learning activities that demonstrate driving behaviors and their outcomes. The course includes techniques of defensive and cooperative driving, avoiding preventable collisions.
